Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1924, Nazareth University was founded with a strong commitment to experience-based learning and community engagement. With a mission to foster integrated learning through action and reflection, Nazareth educates whole persons who are guided by empathy, committed to equity, and prepared to lead innovation for our time.
Impact experiences are at the heart of a Nazareth education, preparing each student to discover within themselves the potential to cultivate positive change in any career field, and in a world that is constantly evolving and infinitely interconnected. Nazareth’s broad academic offerings present a range of study options typical of large universities, delivered in a supportive campus culture. More than 2,500 students, both undergraduate and graduate, enroll in more than 60 majors, 70+ minors, and a broad range of graduate programs. Nazareth also offers 27 NCAA Division III men’s and women’s sports teams and a thriving artistic hub centered on its College of Visual, Performing Arts and Design. Nationally recognized for high-quality community engagement, Nazareth is one of the few universities to have an on-campus office — Weider Community Engagement — providing oversight to community engagement inside and outside of the classroom, including locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. In a learning community that purposefully integrates liberal arts and professional programs, Nazareth graduates launch lifetimes of impactful leadership in communities and workplaces near and far. |
