St. Catherine University March 10, 2016
Habits and Hi-Jabs St. Catherine University's Sisters of St. Joseph St. Paul Province’s Dismantling Racism Working Group, Multicultural and International Programs and Services, Muslim Student Association and Campus Ministry sponsored and hosted "Habits and Hi-Jabs." Panelists discussed the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet wearing the habit and provided reflections on the experience of Muslim students wearing the Hi-jab. The program was an opportunity to learn about each other’s communities (past and present) in order to be better allies and find the similarities as well as honoring differences. Part of the motivation was for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and consociates to show support and solidarity for our Muslim students and community members in the Twin Cities in this time of heightened sensitivity and Islamophobia. |
