College of Our Lady of the Elms

Founded in 1928 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Elms College is a coeducational Catholic college offering an outstanding liberal arts and science core, strong professional programs, and select master’s and doctoral degrees for career preparation in an academic environment that encourages scholarship, leadership, caring and commitment.

Elms College is Western Massachusetts’ only four-year coeducational Catholic college. A commitment to excellence in teaching is an institutional strength. This is supported in small class sizes — the student-faculty ratio is 15-1. The broad curriculum at Elms combines opportunities for internships, fieldwork, study abroad, student research and community service, enabling our students to adapt to an ever-changing world.

The college’s values are characterized by a commitment to serving others and seeking just solutions to the many problems of today's world. We welcome students from many faith traditions, and our students are encouraged and mentored to set high goals — and to grow intellectually, spiritually and professionally toward a life filled with purpose and meaning. Every Elms student graduates not only knowing his or her mind, but also knowing how to put it to work.
