Elms to Mark Milestone for DNP Students with White Coat Ceremony
The Elms School of Nursing will host a white coat ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, to honor the college’s second class of DNP (doctor of nursing practice) students as they move from the classroom into clinical practice training. The students, who started in fall 2015, will begin their clinical training in January. The ceremony will be held in Veritas Auditorium in Berchmans Hall.

Emerson Honors Six Fontbonne Grads
On Sunday, Nov. 13, six Fontbonne alumae were among 100 local educators to be honored at the 2016 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Awards. Recipients were selected by their schools’ administration to honor their accomplishments and steadfast dedication to the teaching profession. The ceremony and reception, where recipients received engraved Tiffany & Co. crystal apple boxes, were held at the Ritz-Carlton on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The St. Catherine community is mourning the loss of alumna Joan Kelly. A 1946 graduate, she died Wednesday, Nov. 2. Described by those who knew her well as “loyal, wise, practical, and generous,” Joan Kelly was a faithful, lifelong supporter of St. Catherine University and an exemplary alumna. Through hard work, a disarming congenial personality, and well-honed business skills, she was a an early and highly successful woman business owner who led the trade show business founded by her father to national stature.

As a young child, Jackson Murphy used to sit in a darkened movie theater scribbling notes so he could write his “Lights! Camera! Jackson!” movie reviews for New York media. Camp Cap Celebrates 10th Year

Welcoming Them (to their new) Home
At home in Bhutan, a small country bordering India and China, Chhabilall Timsina Sharma was a doctor overseeing a network of public health facilities. But in the 1990s, his family and thousands more ethnic minorities fled to Nepal to escape intimidation and torture by the government. Sharma spent the next eight years treating individuals who, like himself, had lost everything.
